Just 8 years ago, the members of the United Nations came together to set an ambitious goal: to build a better future for the whole world. And today, we see how partnership, commitment and a focus on global values are helping to maintain the chosen direction and strengthen economic ties. The Sustainable Development Goals are the foundation for progress. Economic growth, poverty alleviation, peacekeeping, human rights and environmental protection are no longer optional goals for modern business. Business chooses perspective and comprehensive development, as evidenced by the progress of the UNGC Ukraine’s participating companies. There are now 133 of them, 33 more than last year. This shows that sustainability is a priority even in times of global uncertainty.
International integration and rapid change are driving the search for new ways to develop economies and societies. More and more entrepreneurs are choosing a vector of activity based on building a sustainable ecosystem and supporting the 10 Principles of the UN Global Compact. Modern companies innovate, actively support the country, provide a favorable working environment and participate in social activities. And it is the transparency and commitment of businesses that lay the foundation for a strong Ukrainian economy and open new avenues for market expansion and international cooperation.
Seeking to make their own contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, participants in this year’s Partnership for Sustainable Development campaign are presenting their programs to support Ukraine’s defenders, protect human rights, rebuild destroyed infrastructure and create inclusive conditions for social adaptation. It is very valuable that at this crucial time in history, the world has once again come together to preserve peace, the environment, and economic and social development.
Current events have shown us the importance of partnership at all levels. The implementation of the SDGs will help preserve global values and resources, deepen international cooperation, and contribute to the well-being of all humanity.
