Ukraine War Archive

Ukraine War Archive

Project description:
The Ukraine War Archive (Архів війни) is an informational non-profit platform that gathers all forms of digital materials collected since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The project catalogues all materials for the preservation of history and to ensure a fair representation of events in legal and public discourses.
Docudays developed a platform for processing and archiving data with user-friendly interfaces for search, analysis and administration. All materials are analyzed and described by the Archive’s tagging team, using a specially developed list of keywords and categories. Some materials from open sources are sorted and tagged using artificial intelligence. Additionally, materials are transcribed and translated into English.
Over the course of 18 months, the Archive team has collected over 7 million digital files, recorded over 400 interviews with witnesses of war events and war crimes, and documented over 36,000 events and potential war crimes. Furthermore, the Archive receives numerous requests for access to research materials from researchers, directors, artists, human rights activists and law enforcement agencies.
The Archive serves not only as a vast database of materials about Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine but also as a powerful hub for sharing experiences and uniting efforts to achieve common goals, which are pursued by both Ukrainian citizens and the entire democratic world.
