The company is facing a significant challenge in the implementation of Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). One of the key requirements for compliance is to obtain emission data from the company’s suppliers. Unfortunately, the company faces difficulties in accessing this critical information. Without comprehensive emission data, they cannot accurately assess their carbon footprint and determine their compliance level with the CBAM. This poses a significant risk to the company’s operation.

At Kocaer Çelik they know that the biggest emission comes from raw materials. Therefore, the company aims to reduce the amount of this emission by focusing on cooperation with their suppliers and developing together with them. Reporting of real emission values by their suppliers ​​will provide 65.95% of savings. However, real emission values contradict the company’s sustainability vision. Therefore, supplier development programs will be implemented further after reaching real emission values.

In the first step, Kocaer Çelik contacted their suppliers. Therefore, in order to keep everything in focus, they decided to work with companies from 2 different sectors with which they have better relations. In particular, they contacted their suppliers from the Galvanizing and Steel sectors and discussed SDKM with them. Visits were made and training was conducted on how to collect real emission data. It is therefore expected that their suppliers will be able to report according to SKDM at the end of this training.
