Project description:

The fashion industry  is known for its environmental impact, from resource-intensive production to textile waste. Recognizing this challenge, Orka Holding aims to transform its practices and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Together with its supplier, Kıvanç Tekstil, Orka Holding initiated its Sustainable Retail project embodied in the company’s first environmentally friendly Damat Tween 2020/21 Autumn Winter Collection. The key idea was to incorporate recycled materials into the clothing, with a particular focus on converting plastic PET bottles into yarns and fabrics.

Today the company is developing more and more sustainable products by producing 30% of its collections from recycled materials . One example is the D groom collection, where 15% is prepared from recycled pet bottles.  An average of 60 pet bottles are recycled for suits with vests and an average of 50 pet bottles for regular suits. These recycled pet bottles imported by Kıvanç Tekstil since the fiber is first turned into yarn and then into fabric in accordance with sustainability requirements in Kıvanç Tekstil’s facilities.

By 2025, Orka Holding`s  aim is to produce 90% of its collections from recycled materials.
