Stop_sexting

Challenge:
More than 80% of young Ukrainians do not feel safe while using the Internet. One in five has experienced sexting. Almost 70% of respondents tend to add strangers to their friends on social networks. Every third child agreed to meet an online friend offline. During the quarantine period, children began to spend more time online and as a result this caused more risks of the digital environment.
Goals:
- to raise awareness of the problem of sexual abuse on the Internet and to acknowledge ways of prevention and ways to respond for children, parents and close relatives of the child, professionals;
- to increase children’s knowledge about safe behavior on the Internet;
- to increase the capacity of professionals working with children to prevent, detect and respond to cases of abuse against children.
Solution:
Development of lessons, trainings, webinars, online courses and conducting of training
- development and organization of lessons for children of all ages;
- developing and conducting seminars / webinars / online courses for parents and the child’s surroundings;
- developing and conducting seminars / webinars and online conferences for professionals working in contact with children;
Providing counseling support in order to protect children from sexual risks online

Development of methodical recommendations
for stakeholders (parents, teachers; etc.)
Development of information resources within the educational campaign

Development and implementation of advocacy activities to protect children from sexual abuse on the Internet, including participation in law-making activities.
Results:
Development of lessons, trainings, webinars, online courses and golding of trainings
- Development of teaching materials for teachers to conduct lessons and quests with children in schools on issues of protection from sexual violence on the Internet. 4 lessons developed for children of different ages; more than 19,000 children took lessons from 900 teachers in 24 regions of Ukraine.
- Seminars, webinars and streams were held for more than 35,000 parents and teachers, juvenile prevention workers.
- The project experts have prepared the content of the first online course on child safety on the Internet in Ukraine. https://osvita.diia.gov.ua/courses/serial-dlya-batkiv-onlayn-bezpeka-ditey 26,593 views, 88% reached the final test.
- Organization and holding of the international all-Ukrainian online conference “Children online – Stare response” (more than 1000 participants and 19 international speakers).
Providing counseling support to protect children from sexual risks online
- A consulting chatbot on the web site and in the Telegram (@stopSextingBot) (over 3000 consultations)
- A launch of a national 24/7 consultation line on child safety on the Internet including the development and implementation of training programs for operators.
Development of methodical recommendations
- A methodical interactive guide for parents on child safety online
- The development of policies for schools on child safety on the Internet for the Ministry of Education and Science
Development of information resources within the educational campaign
- A creation of an educational platform https://stop-sexting.in.ua (over 20,000 users).
- educational animations for children – more than 900,000 views in TikTok
- information posts for parents and professionals (monthly coverage: 20,000 on Instagram, more than 50,000 on Facebook);
- educational videos: 11 videos;
- author’s articles to mass media.
- Exhibition “Sexual Abuse of Children: The Online Dimension”.
Development and implementation of advocacy activities to protect children from sexual abuse on the Internet, including participation in law-making activities
- A creation of an advocacy exhibition in the Parliament on changes in the legislation “Sexual violence against children: online dimension” (4-11.02.2020)
- A participation in the development and advocacy of changes in legislation criminalizing the watching and possession of materials showing child sexual abuse.
