Autonomous Communities: solar power plants and backup power systems for Administrative Service Centres (ASC) in Ukraine

Project description:
Since the spring of 2023, autonomous ASCs have been operating in the first eight communities of Ukraine.
Atmosfera provided technical support to the project and took over full coordination of the entire scope of the projects. The company’s engineers collected baseline data, developed a technical solution for each individual ASC, taking into account the characteristics and needs of the beneficiary, selected equipment, developed project documentation and carried out the supply and installation of equipment.
Energy security is ensured by autonomous solar power plants with a capacity of 5 to 30 kW installed on the roofs of the Administrative Service Centres. The PV modules generate electricity and supply it to the backup power systems. The batteries automatically switch on and power the ASCs in the case of power outages or in the evening to save money and balance the grid.
To date, projects have been implemented at 15 autonomous ASCs, which serve about 448,700 people per year.
By October 2023, the installation of autonomous solar power plants at 7 more ASCs will be completed, which will provide sustainable administrative services to about 200,000 more citizens, including a shelter for IDPs from Luhansk Oblast.
The total number of beneficiary communities is 50.
