Powering the Hope: Light & Energy for Life

Powering the Hope: Light & Energy for Life

Project description:
Challenge: One of the gravest challenges in wartime Ukraine is the fragility of the energy system. Constant shelling causes complete power outages, leaving hospitals without electricity for hours or even days. Diesel generators, while common, are costly, polluting, and unreliable. In darkness, life-saving equipment stops, and every minute without sustainable power can mean the difference between life and death.
Solution: SPP Development Ukraine provided a sustainable alternative: installing rooftop solar power plants with inverters and energy storage systems. These hybrid solutions ensure uninterrupted electricity during blackouts, reduce CO₂ emissions, cut diesel use, and guarantee that life-saving equipment and medical care never stop, even under attack.
Result: Over 25,000 patients annually are cared for by two hospitals. Over UAH 0.5 million is saved annually per each hospital in municipal electricity costs. These funds are redirected to medical equipment and supplies. Each installation reduces CO₂ emissions by over 35 tons annually. The program supports SDGs No.3, No.7, and No.11. 165 solar modules, 2 hybrid inverters (50 kW and 40 kW), and a battery park of 15 batteries with a total capacity of 80 kWh have been installed. The total clean generation capacity is 94 kW.
