Powering Resilience: Ignitis Group’s Humanitarian Support for Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure

Project description:
Challenge: Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have left millions of people without heat and electricity, threatening lives and critical services. The challenge was to respond quickly and effectively by delivering essential equipment and restoring damaged networks, while prioritising the facilities that could be rebuilt most quickly and would bring the greatest positive impact to the largest number of people.
Solution: The solution required close cooperation with Ukrainian authorities, local energy companies, and international organisations to accurately identify urgent needs and deliver targeted support. By working with partners directly, we ensured efficient logistics, rapid deployment of equipment, and the restoration of energy infrastructure where it was most needed.
Result: Since 2022, Ignitis Group has provided more than €8.9 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine, including financial support and donations of unused equipment to restore war-damaged energy infrastructure and ensure essential services. Through cooperation with Ukrainian authorities and the Energy Community Secretariat, the project has helped repair critical facilities and improve energy access for hundreds of thousands of people.
