With people in mind – support and employment for refugees from Ukraine

Project description:

As a responsible company, Lidl Bulgaria has repeatedly demonstrated its commitment to and support for vulnerable communities in various critical situations.

Financial support in the amount of 50,000 euros was provided by the company to the National Association of Volunteers in the Republic of Bulgaria for the establishment and operation of the National Contact Center and the single portal Ukraine.gov.bg in support of people affected by the war.

In addition, Lidl Bulgaria financially supported eight other organizations in the country, which worked directly with the arrived Ukrainian refugees, for a total amount of 150,000 euros. The funds were used both for humanitarian aid and to support the organizations in their daily work and in their activities to provide legal, psychological assistance and other expert services.

As part of its efforts to support the people of Ukraine, the company also offers employment opportunities to all Ukrainian citizens granted temporary protection status in Bulgaria. The chain provides administrative support in preparing documents, a Bulgarian language course, funds to rent an apartment for six months, as well as remuneration and a package of benefits for all its employees. As a result, more than 60 employees have been hired and nearly 30 currently work in the company.

Immediately after the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, the Schwartz Group, of which Lidl is a part, donated products worth 10 million euros to help the people of Ukraine.
