Project description:

Challenge: Octava Group of Companies supports initiatives that promote education, youth development, and reading. “BookCrossing at Universities” is a corporate project aimed at creating open book spaces in specialized higher education institutions, where students and teachers can exchange books, acquire new knowledge, and develop a culture of conscious reading.

Solution: The project mechanics involve creating bookcrossing zones at universities. Bookshelves with the rules of use and the project identity are installed in libraries, student spaces, and coworking spaces. The formation of the book fund begins with the donation of the first sets of books from Octava Capital and partners, as well as with books contributed by students and teachers for exchange. The bookcrossing format is simple and convenient: anyone can take a book, read it, and return or exchange it for another. The project curator at each university monitors the updating of the collection and compliance with the rules.

Result: Within the first month, Bookcrossing zones were launched at the Institute of International Relations, Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and Kyiv Aviation Institute. By the end of the year, Octava Capital plans to expand the initiative to 15 universities in Kyiv.
