Medical Education for Heroes

Medical Education for Heroes

Project description:
Challenge: Since the full-scale invasion, thousands of Ukrainian medics swapped medical uniforms for military ones and joined the defense forces. Returning to civilian life, many of them have to restart their careers almost from scratch. In applications, veterans highlighted key barriers to reentering the profession: a lack of up-to-date knowledge, professional burnout caused by combat experience, and long breaks from civilian practice.
Solution: The company provided access to high-quality professional training, enabling veterans to update or expand their qualifications. Participants could choose a medical specialty based on their needs and experience. Applications were reviewed by an expert committee, which selected 20 veterans according to clear criteria: medical education, veteran status, motivation, civilian career plans, and prior professional achievements.
Result: A total of 69 veterans applied, including doctors, paramedics, and nurses from across Ukraine. Most had medical experience during service: as combat medics at stabilization points, in mobile hospitals, and in medical evacuation units. The program demonstrated to veterans that their expertise is valued in civilian life and gave them tools for professional growth. This fall, 20 veterans will begin training at Dobrobut Academy.
