Project description:

The first massive strikes by Shahed drones on Ukraine’s energy and social infrastructure in the summer of 2022 resulted in prolonged blackouts. This posed a serious threat to the health of children who were in unheated school buildings and shelters during school. 

IT Integrator found an innovative solution to this problem. The company’s engineers developed an industrial model of a rescue thermal blanket (weighing 50-80 g, in a compact 9×13 cm package) and organized its production at the company’s logistics complex in Kyiv. Volunteers from among the company’s employees and their families took part in the production of the blankets. The company also launched an educational campaign, engaging educators and the Office of the Educational Ombudsman to spread awareness of the importance of thermal blankets. The company’s ambassadors and executives held a series of events to raise awareness among schools and parents about how to use thermal blankets to protect against hypothermia in times of war.

About 20,000 children received life-saving thermal blankets that helped keep them healthy during blackouts and shelling. The thermal blankets were distributed to the frontline and de-occupied regions in the fall and winter of 2022-2023, which significantly increased the safety of children in these dangerous conditions.

By combining an innovative STEM approach with social responsibility, the project has become an important tool to support the lives of children in war and demonstrates how technology can be used to solve real-life challenges.
