Project description:

The KPMG in Ukraine team has conducted a detailed analysis of the impact of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) program on Ukrainian civil aviation and the prospects for the development of the carbon market. The study was part of a larger project, Supporting Green Recovery in Ukraine, supported by UNDP in Ukraine for the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine.

The study of the implementation of the CORSIA system in Ukraine was conducted in comparison with global practices, including the implementation of MRV, the CORSIA carbon offset model and carbon credit sales practices, key players and market drivers, market size and prices, global experience in carbon credit trading, mandatory and voluntary offset schemes, global experience in aviation, and prospects for carbon credit sales models and market in Ukraine.

The KPMG in Ukraine team reviewed relevant programmes, potential sectors, technologies and projects for decarbonisation and carbon credit generation globally and in Ukraine, and modelled a typical carbon offset project to better understand the process. In addition, KPMG in Ukraine consultants analysed the legal aspects of carbon offset projects and provided recommendations on the next steps for the implementation of CORSIA in Ukraine and the development of carbon markets in Ukraine.
