Period of implementation of the project:

February 2020 – till now

Challenge:

In Ukraine, there is a crucial problem of environmental pollution and poverty. METRO helps solve these urgent issues by implementing the eco-social project “Help People for the sake of Planet”, within the framework of which in February 2020 the company launched a pilot project to collect clothing, and in May 2021 – a pilot project to collect PET-bottles with the help of the innovative machine “Yapomogabox 3.0” and transfer funds, received from the sale of collected secondary raw materials, for charity.

Solution:

Clothes, shoes, fabrics, towels, tablecloths and bed linen are collected in specialized containers. The partner of the initiative is Aspern Charitable Organization, whose representatives sort out the clothes and give them to people in need.

“Yapomogabox 3.0” allows to recycle plastic and ,at the same time, help low-income elderly people, children with disabilities and homeless animals. The machine collects twisted PET bottles, which then are recycled thanks to Obukhivmiskvtorresursy, the partner of the project.

Results:

20 tons 520 kg of goods were collected till September 2021.

Almost 7,000 people in Kyiv and regions of Ukraine received help.

This project also has an educational value: the donated goods are the material for handmade training, where it gets a second life.

560 165 PET bottles were collected for recycling and transferred to UAH 28 000, 25 for charity till September 2021.
