Global Engineer Girls (GEG)

Global Engineer Girls (GEG)

Project description:

The underrepresentation of women in STEM, especially in engineering, is caused by gender stereotypes, cultural biases, limited access to education, and a lack of mentoring support. These factors prevent women from entering and staying in the labor market, which deepens the gender gap in this field.

The Global Engineer Girls (GEG) project supports young women in higher technical education through scholarships, mentoring from more than 400 professionals, soft skills training, digital literacy, and English language training. The program also provides career development opportunities at Limak and partner companies, helping women overcome barriers in STEM.

Since 2015, GEG has helped more than 1,300 women improve their prospects in engineering. The program has contributed to increased academic performance and employability, and increased the representation of women in engineering positions and technical leadership roles. Partnerships with 76 universities have created a support network for women engineers, which helps to retain them in STEM careers.

Partners:

Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Services., Partnerships with 76 universities and 38 engineering departments from Turkiye, North Macedonia, Kosovo and Saudi Arabia.
