Educational Initiatives for the Children of Heroes

Educational Initiatives for the Children of Heroes

Project description:

Challenge: One of the key challenges today is preserving the intellectual potential of the country. Thousands of children have been traumatized by war and have lost faith in the future, especially those who have lost their parents. The Children of Heroes Foundation supports families devastated by war, helping children of fallen soldiers receive attention, care, and resources to overcome stress, continue their education, and build a decent and well-informed future.

Solution: EY implements a number of educational initiatives for the children of Heroes. As part of the NMT (National Multisubject Test) project, the company helps up to 25 teenagers prepare for final exams each year, covering tutoring costs, providing mentors from among EY employees, and offering career guidance. The online English school allows you to work with volunteers and participate in conversation clubs with colleagues from different countries. Educational webinars cover topics such as public speaking, emotional intelligence, and time management, and introduce students to various professions. In addition, volunteers organize art weekends for younger schoolchildren with quests, excursions, and visits to the company office.

Result: Results of EY’s educational initiatives for the Children of Heroes in 2025 include the following: 19 teenagers participated in the NMT project, of whom 17 passed the exam, 11 were admitted to state-funded places, and one more continued their studies abroad. 15 children studied in the online English school with 15 volunteers; 245 lessons and 18 conversation clubs were held with the participation of colleagues from 8 countries. 10 webinars were held (with over 400 participants), as well as an Art Weekend for 17 children. 50 children received gifts. In total, approximately UAH 220 thousand and 1,500 hours of volunteer time were spent.
