The initiative of the Epicentr K company’s founders is to implement a large-scale project despite the war and to install solar panels on the roofs of shopping centers. This is the beginning of the ecosystem of the future.

The Epicentr chain is the 1st Ukrainian retailer to install solar power plants (SPP) on a large scale for business needs. The first 20,000 panels have already been placed on the roofs of 5 shopping centers in record time, 45 days – to start up during the most efficient period for generation – summer. The operation of the first 5 SPPs will diminish atmospheric pollution with CO2 emissions by up to 2 mln tons/year. In the future, all units of the Epicentr group of companies will be equipped with solar panels.

The roof panels will generate electricity for up to 40 years, and save land resources. The total capacity of 5 operating SPPs: up to 6000 kW, which = more than 1 mln light bulbs of 5 W each. SPPs cover almost 40% of the needs of shopping centers. By installing the planned amount of SPPs we will help to reduce the production, consumption and transportation of 244,929 tons of coal/year or to reduce annual deforestation by 43,727,400 trees.
