Bayer supports Ukraine’s food security

Project description:
The Russian aggression against Ukraine has severely impacted food security. Ukraine, a major agricultural producer, has faced disruptions in food supplies. The UN has listed Ukraine among the twenty countries at risk of famine. Many agricultural lands were mined, storage facilities and equipment were destroyed, and seaports were blocked. International support is crucial for demining and restoring the agricultural sector.
Committed to its mission Health for all, Hunger for none, Bayer aids Ukrainian farmers in staying safe and securing harvests. Bayer contributed €825,000 to the Fondation Suisse de Déminage for a demining machine, and pledged $15.5 million for USAID’s AGRI-Ukraine, inter alia for counteracting war-related hazards. Over 3,270 small farmers facing a shortage of funds were supported with donations of 61,314 bags of corn and rape seeds and 125,000 households with 1,532 kg of vegetable seeds.
Bayer has significantly supported Ukrainian farmers during the war. Funding the purchase of demining machines ensured safer farming conditions. Small farms and households received substantial seed supplies for free, enabling the planting of over 68,910 hectares.
