Backpack of Life

Backpack of Life

Project description:

The “Backpacks of Life” project was created during the full-scale invasion as a response to the partial destruction of the healthcare system. Providing quality tactical medicine to stabilization points near the frontline helps act swiftly during the “golden hour,” delivering necessary assistance and saving the lives of defenders and civilians.

EPAM Ukraine is allocating $300,000 to its long-term partner, the Leleka Foundation Ukraine, to provide 300 backpacks filled with high-quality tactical medical supplies for combat medics who save the lives of both defenders and civilians. The contents of a basic backpack include tourniquets, bandages, occlusive dressings, various types of bandages, nasopharyngeal tubes, splints, thermal blankets, paramedic scissors, stretchers, decompression needles, gloves, and more. Each such backpack can save up to 10 lives.

As part of the “Backpacks of Life” project, more than 240 equipped backpacks have already been delivered to combat medics in 2024. Last year, the collaboration between EPAM Ukraine and the Leleka Foundation provided essential tactical medical supplies worth $170,000. The media coverage of the project has reached over 900,000 readers. They not only learned more about the duties of a combat medic and the contents of their backpack, but also supported the project financially, contributing over UAH 230,000. Additionally, the fundraising campaign by EPAM Ukraine specialists raised over UAH 470,000, which will enable the delivery of 12 more backpacks.
