Anatolian Ground Squirrels

Anatolian Ground Squirrels

Project description:

SDG “Life on Land” calls for action to preserve biodiversity and natural habitats.

Anadolu Group cooperated with the NGO, the Hatay Nature Conservation Foundation, on a conservation project to save the Anatolian ground squirrel, which is listed as nearly endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature – Red List of Threatened Species.

The company conducted ecological research in Turkey. Tracking in Konya identified approx. 350 individual Anatolian ground squirrels in 15 different areas,  pinpointed threatening factors for the species and came up with suggestions for their preservation.

The company also built a strategy to create an awareness of biodiversity. Faber-Castell – Adel Kalemcilik (part of Anadolu Group) introduced Anatolian Heritage pencil and notebook sets to raise awareness of biodiversity among children. Endangered species (one of them is Anatolian ground squirrels), decorate the pencils and notebooks in each set.

Guided by the sustainable and environment-friendly production principle, Adel Kalemcilik manufactures pencil sets from FSC® certified trees.
