The UN Global Compact unites companies for sustainable development. It is a vivid example of how business can become a driving force for progress, change and support.
Among the companies participating in the UN Global Compact are those who care about what the world will look like in the future. The role of responsible business is not limited to business success and the creation of economic value through taxes or jobs. Through their social responsibility, companies make a significant contribution to achieving the critical goals of the UNGC. These include decent work and economic growth, fostering innovation and infrastructure development, promoting responsible consumption and production, combating inequality, achieving sustainable urban and community development, supporting those in need etc.
Every year, new participants join the UN Global Compact. Today, there are 20 companies involved. All of them act responsibly and effectively, promoting sustainable development at every available level.
One of the UNGC’s objectives is to foster partnerships for sustainable development. In the face of global challenges, such partnerships create new opportunities for economic growth and social progress, helping build a better future for all. A notable initiative in this direction is the dissemination and implementation of the anti-corruption course launched by the UN Global Compact in Ukraine in 2023. This year, 10 companies have joined this project.
In times of great challenges for our country, open and transparent businesses have also become a reliable pillar for Ukraine and its society. An additional value within the framework of sustainable development is helping the state and Ukrainians affected by war. Businesses are implementing programs to support orphans, internally displaced persons, those who have lost their homes, etc., helping the wounded and veterans and participating in many volunteer and charity projects. This is a key focus of socially responsible companies in Ukraine.
We are on the right path. I am proud of the contribution to the development of our country and society of each member of the UN Global Compact
