Ukraine’s pillar: Bolstering the сountry’s defense

Since 24 February 2022, Metinvest has directed UAH 2 billion for defenders’ needs as part of Rinat Akhmetov`s  Steel Front initiative.

Steel production. Metinvest has launched production of a special grade of steel for armoured plates. The company has already produced 37 mobile buggies, more than 200 mobile shelters, 80,000 anti-tank hedgehogs and spiked chains to defend against wheeled vehicles, armoured shields to protect vehicles, field stoves and much more.

Gear and equipment. Metinvest has become one of the largest private sector suppliers of vehicles, gear and equipment for the front line. The defenders have already received over 150,000 bulletproof vests, 25,000 helmets, 1,500 drones, 2,000 thermal imagers, 875 units of communication equipment, 441 vehicles, 450 backup power systems, 31,500 first aid kits and hemostatic tourniquets.

Together with the PULSE Charitable Foundation, the company has launched tactical medicine training for defenders in the combat zone.

Rehabilitation. Metinvest, together with the Protez Hub project, launched a prosthetics programme for its employees and their families. Since December 2022, the programme has been extended to help defenders and civilians in front-line regions. Currently, 60 amputees are being provided with prosthetics and treatment; of these, 20 have already received prostheses.

The aim of the Metinvest Together project is psychological support for its employees, in particular for the defenders and their families. The project’s specialists have provided nearly 4,400 individual and group counselling sessions.
